And Then There Was Gordon On Fox

Deadline is reporting that Fox is producing a new animated comedy, starring Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock, entitled And Then There Was Gordon. Written by Ryan Reynolds and Allan Loeb, And Then There Was Gordon will center around an ordinary child growing up in a house full of geniuses.

This doesn't sound like something I would watch, but if you are into these freaks and geeks type shows, this might be what you were looking for.

11 things we learned about Pixar's 'Brave'

Slashfilm has given their 11 things we learned about Pixar's Brave. I recreated the list below for brevity. To get the full story, head over to Slashfilm (and tell them we sent you :)).
  1. Brave takes place in the 10th Century
  2. Merida is a bad ass
  3. Three is a magic number
  4. 80% of the movie used to be in snow, but the new director changed that
  5. Old is harder than new
  6. Celtic and Pictish symbolism is everywhere
  7. The Pizza Planet truck IS in the movie
  8. 350 brushes were created for moss and rocks alone
  9. Wisps are blue
  10. Merida has a lot of hair, which was very difficult to manage
  11. The bear's name is Mordu
Since I was not at D23, I cannot verify these statements outside what we all have seen in the teaser and currently released screen shots and posters.

First off, I am not a fan of magic numbers. The three thing seems like the animators (and writers) took some shortcuts.

The Pizza Planet truck scene will be a poorly disguised product placement. While I understand the need for such things, I hoped Pixar could of done it better.

The same goes for the main bear villain. Disney couldn't let you guys have a girl have a human antagonist, Pixar?

Phineas and Ferb Season 4 And More

Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh have signed with Disney Television to produce more Phineas & Ferb, including a fourth season and a brand new pilot episode. They also signed on to produce a currenlty untitled Phineas and Ferb movie and will get a share of the franchise's merchandising profits.

I never watched Phineas & Ferb, but something is telling me I should at least check it out.

Michael Clarke Duncan Wants to Be Thundercats' Panthro

During a Rotten Tomatoe interview, Michael Clarke Duncan mentioned that we would love to play as Panthro in a live-action remake of ThunderCats.
Is there a superhero you'd want to play if you had the chance?
Oh yeah. I'd want to play Panthro from ThunderCats. I like Panthro. I always have. He was cool, he did the nunchucks. I think I'd have to work on my nunchuck skills; when I was younger, I hit myself on the head with some nunchucks. But Panthro from ThunderCats. I know they're going to do a ThunderCats movie, and they're apparently working on a show right now. I think Panthro would really suit me. I think I could really embellish that role.
It should also be noted that Zoe Saldana has declaied her desire to be Cheetarah.

Though some don't ee it, I believe both actors would do well in their respective roles. ThunderCats was also on my short list for 1980s cartoons that I wanted to see remade in film.

P. S. Duncan wants to be on Sin City 2 as well.

Splitting Music Library While Building a Disney / Pixar Up House

Progress continues on my quest to split the Toon Radio playlist. With just under 3000 songs to sort, it's going to take a few weeks. The project won't affect the stream, though. So, you won't have to worry about us going offline. This does, however, delay other projects such as adding more msuic to the library. Got to pick your battles, I guess.

In the meantime, I think you guys would want to know that some rich dude in Utah is building a new house based on the house featured in Disney/Pixar's Up! That's right, the house that uses balloons to fly away. They guy wnet out of his wa to get the proper licensing to do so. Since Disney is allowing this, I am going ot have to say that money will buy you anything, even Disney itself.

Fairy Tail Anime Movies

Shawn Landis, over at Screen Junkies, as osted a list of 5 Fairy Tail Anime Movies.

The list includes:
  1. Ponyo (2008).
  2. Princess Mononake (1997)
  3. Sky Crawlers
  4. Grimm's Fairy Tale Classic (1987)
  5. Wizards (1977)
I haven't seem enough anime to really comment on Landis's list. However, but from what I have seen, her statement that "a person has to stretch a list of Anime fairy tales to even make it worthwhile for the short attention span of Internet readers;" may be truer than most otaku realise.

DreamWorks President Goes To MediaNavi

John Batter, president of production at DreamWorks Animation, has taken the job of CEO for MediaNavi.

Under Batter, MediaNavi, a subsidiary of Technicolor, says they will be focusing on "emerging content distribution", starting with an unidentified release in 2012.

It should be noted that DreamWorks and MediaNavi are currently working together to produce DreamWorks' Kung Fu Panda 3D.

Disney, Pixar End Annie Awards Boycott

The 39th annual Annie Awards call for entries went out on Thursday, and among the entries included many from Disney and Pixar.

This, of course, means that Disney and Pixar have ended their year-long boycott of the awards ceremony. The reasoning for this change of heart? Rumors say significant voting-procedure and organizational changes made since the last Annies back in February.

For the uninformed, the Annie Awards are an annual celebrated awards ceremoney in the world of animation, similar to the Oscars, and is run by the International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood.

Next year's Annie ceremony will held at UCLA's Royce Hall on Feb. 4, 2012. Animated films released in the calendar year 2011 are eligible. Entries must be submitted by Friday, October 14.

Cartoons Music Radio

Hello everyone,
If this your first time at on online radio website? Welcome!
If you are a veteran? Welcome, as well!
Toon Radio is an 24/7 online radio station dedication to soundtrack music, but not just any soundtrack music. We specialize in animation.

Yes, animation soundtracks.

Animation is more than kids stuff, and even the kids stuff tend to have kick ass music scores and theme songs. If you haven't watched a cartoon in years, or never stopped watching, this place is for you.

Animation soundtracks can be found in all genres of music. Each animated film and television program is different and unique, and often requires different and unique music to go with it. Because of this, the music can range from hard country to pop to rock to classical and beyond, even within the same show.
Toon Radio was setup to celebrate the sounds of animation. Whether it is a simple theme song, or a complete score, Toon Radio is here to showcase it.

If you are long time animation fan, or simply stopping by, start your journey today by clicking here, and start listening to our audio stream.
Our little stream can play in the background, so you can continue on your way around the internet. So, let us be your own personal soundtrack, and bring out the kid that still lives inside you.

Fox overbooking Sunday night?

Aquadementia over at Toon Zone moaned that FOX was overloading Sunday night. Though there may be a reason to worry, I say the animation expansion is a good thing.

I have no problem with FOX adding more stuff to Sunday night. More animated TV is good tv, and the weekends are the time for cartoons: comedy or otherwise.

The only reason to see a problem here is paranoia It is reasonable to be scared that this heavy bombardment of animaton may kill animation if one doesn't do well. but this senario is unlikely to happen. There have been many aniated failures, and none of them killed animated tv. There have been setbacks, but nothing completely removed animation from tv.

If the new series are good, we should support them. If they are not, they will be removed eventually, and replaced with more good stuff.

How To Train Your Dragon Play

As you read this, DreamWorks is previewing the How To Train Your Dragon stage show in Australia. The first clip of the new show is making the Internet rounds and people are reporting that the dragon looks extremely real. The footage shows Hiccup demonstrating his courage, then it is publicity footage of the dragon.

Cartoon movies to the stage. What other film wll get the broadway treatment?

Eddie Murphy is Hong Kong Phooey

Alcon Entertainment is currently in production to make a live-action/CG Hong Kong Phooey movie. Eddie Murphy will voice voice Penry, the kung-fu fighting superhero who doubles as a janitor at a police station. Murphy has previously voiced Donkey from the Shrek movies and Mushu from Mulan. Alex Zamm will direct while Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove will produce.

Since this will be a live-actioner with the animal characters in CG, this movie has the potential to be really good, or really suck. There will be no middle ground.
