Rio wins world, Hop tops U.S. Again

Despite not being released in the US, Blue Sky Animation’s Rio won the world. The musical comedy had the best opening ever for an animated movie in Brazil (which is where the film takes place), with a worldwide weekend total of $55 million. According to Variety, Rio was originally planned to be released in the U.S. this weekend as well, but was pushed back to coincide with most school spring breaks and Easter.

Meanwhile in the states, Universal’s Hop won its second domestic weekend in a row–becoming the first movie of the year to stay on top for more than one week.

Bob’s Burgers Moves To Season Two

According to Collider, despite rumors of cancellation and some very negative reviews, Fox has decided to renew their latest animated series, Bob’s Burgers, for a second season,

Speculation from Entertainment Weekly suggests that some of the more recent episodes have been getting decent ratings.

The relative success of Bob's Burgers, and the Animation Domination block in general, has prompted FOX to expand their animation outreach. The network will be releasing the animated series Napoleon Dynamite(a spin-off of the movie) and the Jonah Hill animated show Allen Gregory.

I do not watch Animation Domination. Animated comedies have become stale to me. But, it is good to note that Bob Burger's kitchen will remain open to serve laughs to those that are interested. Way to go!
